Godalming College trebles solar generation

Work has started to install solar PV at the Independent Learning Centre at Godalming sixth form College. Godalming College was one of the first Wey Valley Solar installations with a 49 kWp array installed in 2012. The Independent Learning Centre roof will provide an additional 120 kWp of generating capacity.

Chair of Wey Valley Solar, Mike Smyth MBE said “It’s always been our intention to add to Godalming College’s renewable generation. We are delighted that we have finally been able to bring it to fruition.”

The installation schedule has been geared to enable the school to benefit from reduced electricity prices during the peak summer generating period – subject, of course, to the vagaries of British weather! Further work is planned for Godalming College, the intention being to quadruple existing generation.
