Godalming College increases solar generation

Work has started to install more solar PV at Godalming College to add to the original 49kWp array installed by local community energy group, Wey Valley Solar Co-operative. The Independent Learning Centre roof will provide an additional 124 kWp and the PAC Building 41.5kWp of generating capacity.

Chair of Wey Valley Solar, Mike Smyth MBE said “It’s always been our intention to add to Godalming College’s renewable generation. We are delighted that we have finally been able to bring it to fruition.”

The installation schedule has been geared to enable the school to benefit from reduced electricity prices during the peak summer generating period – subject, of course, to the vagaries of British weather! Further work is planned for Godalming College, the intention being to quadruple existing generation.
